Orbit UK signs up new partner

Orbit UK recently announced a partnership with EDI software specialist EDI Matrix.


John Goodsell from Orbit UK explained, “EDI Matrix specialise in low-cost enabling software for PCs that provide an EDI capability for a variety of software packages that run either under Windows or Unix. So it made sense for us to partner with an organisation with such expertise.”

EDI Matrix offers a comprehensive portfolio of products including:

  • Converters - to transform information to and from specialised EDI syntax. They also perform sophisticated error checking, reporting and error recovery
  • Session logging - generating a cumulative log that contains extensive and detailed information about everything that has occurred during a session
  • Table maintenance - utilities that will display the structure and contents in a format ideal for overview and understanding of the table
  • Control files - text files that define the operational environment for the converters during a session

Improved synergy will benefit customers

Since much of EDI Matrix’s work is international, they have considerable expertise with projects using EDIFACT messages and subsets such as EANCOM, although they have made plenty of installations for Tradacoms, dealing with the major UK retail hubs, and a sprinkling of ANSI X12 and XML users.

Their software is ready to use with all the major VAN’s, and can also handle transfer by e-mail, FTP, X.400 and others. Additionally, the company has significant experience with legacy EDI formats such as VDA and BISAC, and can handle information transferred as spreadsheets, database tables, and proprietary formats.
